Dr Sarah Evans - Kings Fertility London

Dr Sarah Evans

Consultant in Reproductive Medicine

After graduating from Birmingham Medical School in 2007, Dr Sarah Evans was commissioned into the Royal Army Medical Corps. During her military medical career, she deployed on combat operations and large-scale exercises, gaining first-hand insight into some of the challenges serving personnel can face when trying to conceive.

Dr Evans developed a particular interest in reproductive medicine during a fellowship at King’s Fertility in 2020, followed by completion of the Advanced Training Skills Module in Subfertility. Having completed the RCOG postgraduate specialist training programme, she was appointed as a Military Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, combining a Consultant post with Frimley Park (Joint Hospital Group) NHS Trust and King’s Fertility. After completing an 18-year commission, Dr Evans retired from the Defence Medical Services and now focuses exclusively on providing fertility care at King’s Fertility.

Dr Evans has a particular interest in male factor infertility and fertility preservation, having completed the British Fertility Society study module in Male Infertility. She leads the Andrology service at King’s Fertility, working closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure that both partners are appropriately and promptly assessed and investigated. She is committed to keeping up to date with developments in reproductive medicine and male factor infertility, with the aim of providing patients with current, evidence-based care.

Dr Evans is a member of the British Fertility Society and the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology. She is passionate about clear communication and patient education, helping individuals and couples understand their options and make informed choices about their fertility.

Hyperthyroidism means your thyroid gland is producing too much thyroid hormone.

This can cause fertility problems by interfering with ovulation for women and sperm production for men.

Luckily, it’s usually treatable and can be diagnosed with a simple blood test.

Unfortunately, many women living with PMOS wait years for a diagnosis.

This name change is a brilliant step in the right direction to reduce that wait time by improving understanding against GPs or what the condition actually looks like.

While your fertility is impacted by the perimenopause, it’s still possible to conceive naturally.

You may also still be eligible for fertility treatments like IVF, though this depends on other factors too, such as your medical history and age.

There’s a lot to consider when deciding whether IVF is the right treatment for you.

Your age, medical history and how long you’ve been trying to conceive are just some of the relevant factors we look at.

If you’re unsure of your options, your GP or a consultation with one of our fertility doctors can help you understand what your next best steps are.

Baby Loss Awareness Week is a time to honour and remember those who left us too soon.

If you’re grieving, please be kind to yourself – remember there’s no right or wrong way to process your emotions. Whenever things feel too heavy to carry alone, reach out to your loved ones and support network, this week and every week.

It can certainly still be worthwhile to freeze your eggs over the age of 35.

Dr Sarris explains why, and what you should consider before making a decision.

While sperm need to be strong swimmers to reach the egg, they’re certainly not acting alone in their mission! A woman’s womb naturally contracts and relaxes to help the sperm on their way to their fallopian tubes.

It’s a team effort.
