A common cause for male infertility is low or abnormal sperm production, so a semen analysis is one of the primary tests we provide. Through a sperm sample, we are able to analyse a number of parameters including sperm concentration, motility, morphology (the size and shape of sperm), volume, chemical make-up (pH levels) liquefication time (how long it takes to become liquid), viscosity, appearance and presence of abnormal cells.
It is a simple test, but it can tell us a lot. Usually the semen sample is produced by ejaculating into a cup in one of our purpose built private clinic rooms, but you can also bring a sample from home under some circumstances.. If the results are abnormal, we will suggest the best course of action.
