Clair Engelbrecht is a board registered genetic counsellor with more than 4 years’ working experience in the field of clinical genetics and genetic counselling. Clair obtained her qualifications in South Africa where she worked in both the public academic hospital setting as well as the private healthcare sector. Clair’s focus was on cancer and prenatal genetic counselling.
In the UK, Clair has worked within the NHS for two years focusing on cancer genetics and rare diseases. She has more recently started working in fertility genetics with a focus on pre-implantation genetic testing and preconception genetic counselling.
Clair’s interests in the field of genetics extend to immunology and haematology. Research projects she has focused on include quality of life studies in adults with sickle cell disease and research into the underlying genetics of children with suspected inborn errors of immunity.
