Anastasia Mania has been actively involved in fertility treatment and research since graduating in Molecular Biology at University College London (UCL) in 2004.
She joined the clinical team at UCL working on preimplantation genetic diagnosis and screening (PGD and PGS) while simultaneously earning her MSc in Pre-implantation Genetics and Fetal Medicine (2007).
During her time at UCL, she developed a passion for research while investigating chromosomal changes in embryos. Spurred on by this, she began her clinical training in Embryology at a large NHS teaching hospital in London, where she coordinated the PGD service until 2013. During this period, she gained ACE and HCPC registration and taught as an honorary lecturer for Imperial College London’s Masters in Reproductive Biology.
Anastasia then joined a leading private London unit as a senior embryologist, becoming highly proficient in oocyte vitrification and blastocyst biopsy. While there, she led the research group and published several papers on reproductive medicine.
Alongside her clinical leadership, Anastasia is deeply committed to driving standards across the sector through her active leadership within the British Fertility Society (BFS). She serves on the BFS Executive Committee, contributes to the Training Committee, and acts as a dedicated Scientific Membership Representative, helping shape education, guidelines, and representation for practitioners nationwide.
Now leading operations as Lab Director at King’s Fertility, she remains passionate about improving pregnancy outcomes, integrating cutting-edge research into clinical practice, and delivering exceptional patient-centered care.

Hyperthyroidism means your thyroid gland is producing too much thyroid hormone. This can cause fertility problems by interfering with ovulation for women and sperm production for men. Luckily, it’s usually treatable and can be diagnosed with a simple blood test. #Fertility

Unfortunately, many women living with PMOS wait years for a diagnosis. This name change is a brilliant step in the right direction to reduce that wait time by improving understanding against GPs or what the condition actually looks like. #Fertility #PMOS

While your fertility is impacted by the perimenopause, it’s still possible to conceive naturally. You may also still be eligible for fertility treatments like IVF, though this depends on other factors too, such as your medical history and age.

While sperm need to be strong swimmers to reach the egg, they’re certainly not acting alone in their mission! A woman’s womb naturally contracts and relaxes to help the sperm on their way to their fallopian tubes. It’s a team effort. #Fertility
